“When I first saw this drawing, my immediate reaction wasn’t about the artistic technique or the surrealism—I just felt an overwhelming sense of motherhood. Looking at the angle of the wooden slats and the deeply tender, downward tilt of the woman’s head, I instantly saw a mother keeping a silent vigil over her baby’s crib.
While the classic Levantine symbols are all present—the fish crowning her head to represent the abundance of bringing new life into the world, and the subtle curve of a bird nestled near her heart—it is that initial feeling of fiercely protective, quiet love that defines this piece for me. I curated this drawing because it captures the purest sanctuary of all: a mother’s silent lullaby, completely enveloped in peace.”

Exchange Policy
